Northern Alabama Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy Lawyers

At the law firm of Rhea, Boyd & Rhea in Gadsden, our attorneys represent clients who are seeking relief from their debts by filing bankruptcy. We have been serving clients throughout Northeast Alabama since 1954.

Relief from All Types of Debt

Our clients come to us because they are overburdened with credit card debt, medical debt, car loans and mortgages. Our clients need assistance stopping foreclosure, stopping repossession, stopping wage garnishment and simply stopping the creditor harassment. Bankruptcy can stop all of these, while serving to eliminate most unsecured debts.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 is the most common form of personal bankruptcy. People are able to eliminate all unsecured debt in approximately half a year, providing the financial relief necessary to manage all remaining secured debts. In certain situations, the filer may need to give up some property.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

This unique form of debt relief allows people to eliminate debts through a payment plan that lasts between three and five years, depending on the situation. Through the payment plan, some creditors may be paid off completely. Other creditors may only receive a small percentage of what they are owed. Upon completion of the plan, remaining unsecured debt is completely eliminated.
